Welcome Week

Welcome to halls!

During your first week at the University of Manchester there are many events and oppertunities taking place to help you settle in and make friends.

Moving to a new place and being surrounded by new people can feel daunting, but just remember that everyone else is in the same boat! Don’t be afraid to knock on your neighbours’ doors to introduce yourself. You’ll be suprised at how many friends you can make with a pack of cards and a box of chocolates.

Freshers Fair

For several days during Welcome Week the University of Manchester holds a freshers fair on main campus to promote societies and job opportunities to students. Joining a society is a great way to make friends with people who have similar interests.

Due to COVID it may be that this fair is postponed, but if it is running - be sure to pop down, you may discover something new and pick up a load of freebies from pizza to pens and bags. If not you can find more information on societies on the SU website.

During Welcome Week, the university puts on lots of events. Check here for events being held by the Student's Union and here for events run in your hall by ResLife. Your RA/JCR will also organise some events - check on your halls Facebook page for more information.

Online Course

As part of your Welcome to halls you must complete an online course that provides you with key information on life in halls - including personal safety, events, welfare support and fire safety. Further information on this course will be provided close to your move in date.
