  • Direct Debit - If you would like to pay your accommodation fees in instalments you'll be required to set up a Direct Debit agreement with the University. This can be set up by you, a parent, guardian, relative or friend but must be on a UK bank account. You can set up a Direct Debit now on your MyManchester account.
  • Health and Safety Policy - View the Residences Health and Safety Policy
  • Insurance- Personal possessions insurance is included in your accommodation licence fees, quote policy number HH1053 to check what is covered or to make a claim.
  • Keys - if you have lost your keys for a room on the Fallowfield Campus you can purchase replacement keys online by visiting https://estore.manchester.ac.uk/product-catalogue/halls-of-residence/room-keys . If you live on the City or Victoria Park Residential Campus then please contact your hall admin team.
  • Leaving Halls of Residence. All students wishing to terminate their accommodation agreement must submit a leaver’s form to the Accommodation Office. Please note Category A and Category B below - depending which category your request to leave falls within will determine your residence fee liability. You are strongly advised to speak to your ResLife Coordinator or a member of the Administration Team for advice and guidance before submitting a form or contact a member of the Accommodation Office team.
    • Category A: Students who for either academic or personal reasons are withdrawing from their studies and leaving the University.

As stated in the University of Manchester Residences Terms and Conditions you will not be held responsible for residence fees after completing the 28-day notice period. An inspection will be carried out to ensure that the room you are leaving has not been subject to any damage. If damage has occurred this will be charged to your residence account. You must also ensure that all rubbish is removed and the room is left clean and tidy, otherwise you may incur additional charges. The 28-day notice period will begin when a properly completed form is received in our inbox. In addition supporting documentation from your department must be provided to the central accommodation office to confirm your withdrawal from the University.

    • Category B: Leaving Hall to move to the private sector or returning home.

You will remain responsible for your full residence fees as stipulated in your accommodation licence agreement. If the Accommodation Office is able to find a replacement who is a registered student at the University of Manchester and who is not already in University of Manchester accommodation you will be refunded the differences in fees. You may assist in this process by recommending a suitable replacement to the Accommodation Office.An inspection will be carried out to ensure that the room you are leaving has not been subject to any damage. If damage has occurred this will be charged to your residence account. Please note you will be required to settle your total residence account upon departure.

Obviously you will be expected to return all keys/fobs/swipe cards when leaving otherwise further charges may be levied.

If you have supporting documentation make sure you have it saved to your computer, tablet or phone so you can easily upload it when requested to do so.

  • Transferring rooms within or between halls. To request a transfer within a hall or between halls you will need to complete a form, please bear in mind that making a request does not guarantee a transfer but we will do our best to help where possible. Please read this carefully first:
    • Students wishing to transfer to a different room must submit a transfer request.
    • Completion of a transfer form does not guarantee that a transfer will take place. Once approval has been given, the transfer is then dependent upon vacancies being available in your chosen residence.
    • If a suitable vacancy occurs, the Accommodation Office will contact you. Please keep the Accommodation Office updated with any change of email address or phone numbers.
    • An inspection will be carried out to ensure that the room you are moving from has not been subject to any damage. If damage has occurred this will be charged to your residence account. You must also ensure that all rubbish is removed and the room is left clean and tidy, otherwise you may incur additional charges. Students who have outstanding residence fees will not be allowed to transfer until these fees have been paid in full.
    • When you have a firm date for transferring, you may need to call at your current hall administration office to complete any necessary documents.
    • When you vacate your room, you must speak to your hall administration office to check procedures. Keys/swipe cards must be returned to the relevant administration office within 24hrs of the transfer date, failure to do so will result in extra charges, unless an alternative return date has been agreed with the local office.
