What to Bring

We know you'll be eager to start buying things for your new adventure, but before you do, make sure to check what will already be in your room and what you may need to bring with you.

In your room we provide a:

  • Bed
  • Desk
  • Desk chair
  • Lamp
  • Wardrobe
  • Chest of drawers

You will need to bring with you:

  • Bed linen
  • Duvet
  • Pillows
  • Towels
  • If arriving from outside of the UK – appropriate electrical adapters for your equipment

All our halls require single bed-sized bedding, with the exception of Unsworth Park, Denmark Road, Brook Hall, and ‘supersize singles’ which require double bed-sized bedding.

If you are going to be living at Uttley House please contact the Accommodation Office for information on bed sizes prior to purchasing any items as sizes do differ.

Catered accommodation

Please note that if you're in a catered hall you will need passport-size photographs for your meal card.

Self-catered accommodation

If you are in self-catered accommodation you will need to bring:

  • Some cooking utensils
  • Crockery
  • Cutlery
  • Pans

You may want to wait to meet your new flatmates before you buy anything so you don’t end up with duplicate items. If you are in catered halls you may wish to also bring some of these for use at weekends or if you are going to be in your hall at lunchtimes. Please be aware that kitchens in catered accommodation are usually smaller and have less storage space than those in self-catered halls.

You can also kit yourself out for Uni through our friends at UniKitOut. You can order Bedding, Kitchen, Bathroom Kits, and more, all to be delivered directly to your halls and have waiting for you upon arrival. Plus, save 10% with discount code MU10
