Recycling & Sustainability

Recycling in Halls

You are responsible for taking out your general waste and recycling in Halls. Flats and kitchens that do not take out waste or recycling will be charged. You may want to create a rota to organise who will take out the general waste and recycling.

How do I recycle?

To help you recycle, each kitchen has 2 coloured recycling bags: a blue and a brown one. In addition to this you will have a recycling bag in your room. When the bags are full please empty their contents into the relevant bins outside your hall entrance and return the empty bags to your room/kitchen.

Food Waste Recycling

Some halls have food waste recycling too. This can go into the green Recycling bin for all food waste including egg shells, pasta, fruit and vegetables, tea bags, coffee, raw or cooked meat, fish & bones, dairy, bread and cakes. Food can be put into these bins in plastic bags as these are removed during processing.

Don’t contaminate the recycling bins with the wrong type of waste and don’t put any plastic bags into recycling bins (this excludes the food waste bins). Thank you.
