Catered Halls

We aim to provide a top quality dining experience for both students and visits, and are commited to meet any dietary needs individuals may have. Catered hall restaurants serve breakfast and dinner throughout the year except during vacation times and bank holidays.

Parents and Guardians can be assured that their son or daughter is receiving an excellent choice of balanced healthy meals, twice a day for 5 days a week (Fallowfield Campus) or 7 days a week (Victoria Park Campus). If you are visiting your son or daughter why not stay with us at Chancellors Hotel?

Meals Provided

Breakfast

  • Five-item cooked breakfast with toast
  • Cereal, fruit and yoghurt bar
  • Fair-trade hot and cold beverages

Dinner

  • Choice of hot main-dish (vegan, vegetarian, fish & meat)
  • Salad bar
  • Choice of desert (warm dessert or choice of fresh fruit salad, yoghurt or a piece of fruit)
  • Fair-trade hot and cold beverages

Weekday lunches can be purchased at one of our cafés; locations can be found on the side panel.

For dinner we operate a Five Week Menu Cycle, found in the links on the side of the page: typically two meat/fish dishes and a vegetarian option.

Some of the catered Halls have kitchen facilities so you can prepare yourself a meal at weekends or lunch time.

Source Cafe

Source is a contemporary cafe offering hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, hot food, cakes and much more. Source offers a comfortable space where students can enjoy lunch, breakfast, a coffee or a snack and socialise, share ideas, debate or relax with Wi-Fi access and bookable group space. It is situated on Fallowfield campus, opposite the central reception.

Opening times

Term Time:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30 - 21:00 (closes at 18:00 on Friday)
  • Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 - 16:00

Outside of term time:

  • Monday to Friday: 09:00 - 15:00
  • Closed on weekends

Food in Advance

FoodInAdvance allows students to top up their ID Cards with money to spend in the 26 FoodonCampus outlets located across campus and Source Café in Fallowfield. It’s the cheapest way to buy food and drink on campus as users receive a 10% discount on purchases alongside a range of unique offers throughout the year. Dinner:

All Fallowfield Catered Halls: 17.15 – 19.15

Victoria Park Halls:

  • Hulme Hall & Dalton Ellis Hall: 17.15 – 19.15
  • St Gabriel’s Hall: 17.45 – 18.45
  • St Anselm's Hall: 18:15 (prompt start) - 19.15

Meal Times - Weekends

There is no weekend catering on the Fallowfield Campus (although Café Source is open - see above). However on the Victoria Park Campus three halls do provide weekend catering.

Hulme Hall:

Saturday:

  • Breakfast: 8.30 – 9.15
  • Dinner: 17.15 – 18.30

Sunday:

  • Brunch: 11.30 – 12.30
  • Dinner: 17.15 – 18.30

Dalton-Ellis Hall:

Saturday & Sunday:

  • Breakfast: 11.30 – 12:30
  • Dinner: 17.15 – 18.30

St Anselm's Hall:

Saturday:

  • Brunch: 11:00 – 13.30

Sunday:

  • Breakfast: 09:00 – 10:00
  • Dinner: 17.15 – 18.30

Replacement meal

If for academic, timetabling, or student society reasons, or if you have an unavoidable commitment and are unable to attend the breakfast or dinner service, please speak to a member of the catering team who would be happy to help you complete the replacement meal request form (please note that a minimum of 24 hours notice will be required).

If you are living in self catered residences or you are a visitor, you are more than welcome to purchase a meal at a catered hall throughout the term and join us at one of our themed events.

Bars on Campus

Bars on campus are a great place to meet new people and have some fun. All the bars are competitively priced and have events planned throughout the year from quiz nights to karaoke and much more.

Where possible we look to use the finest local produce and the most ethical and sustainable suppliers. For further information please view the University's Sustainable food policy.
