With its legendary social scene, Fallowfield is the acknowledged student suburb of Manchester. Its innumerable restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes and shops (including a large Sainsbury’s) cater specifically for students. Most halls are situated on the main bus route to the University and City Centre, and services to both are frequent; the walk to the academic campus is a relatively comfortable one, too.

The Armitage Centre, one of the University’s two sports venues, is located within campus grounds, and offers football, rugby, hockey and cricket pitches (all-weather and grass), squash and badminton courts, fitness classes (from Pole Dancing to Kick Boxing!) and much more.

Fans of Manchester's favourite football team, City, can easily travel to games at the Etihad stadium from Fallowfield and many local pubs run buses to the games.
