The times throughout your son or daughter's stay that will perhaps have the most impact on you as a parent or guardian will be their arrival and departure from halls. The dates that they are able to move in and required to move out will be e-mailed to them when they accept the offer and on their licence agreement.

However, there will be more you need to know than that.

Arrival

Most halls will send out information about how to find them, where to park and what times and locations to collect keys from.

• We are usually able to get permission from the council to allow temporary parking onsite, but contacting the relevant hall office will provide you with more information about this
• In extenuating circumstances, it may be possible to move in a day or two early, though this should be checked directly with the hall
• Items such as cutlery, crockery and bedding should be brought, though there are many places in the city where these things can be bought at a reasonable price
  

Departure

As with Arrival, information about leaving will be issued by the hall prior to the end of the contract date.

• Your son or daughter should clear everything from their room and ensure that it is left clean and in good condition
• If your son or daughter needs to extend their stay for a few days, it is usually possible to do this, though they may have to move to a different room or even a different hall of residence nearby
